Turn the otherwise useless Mycelium into a menacing threat! Loosely inspired by other infection mods, this datapack tends to take a more vanilla approach.

The goal of this datapack
The main premise is to keep Players free from a spore infection to avoid its debuffs. You will be protecting your villagers and pets while setting up extra defenses to keep physical distance of infected mobs.
Some examples on how to play this datapack:
- Allow your player base to weaponize mobs and areas with Mycelium. How will YOU keep the infection out of your base, and your pets and villagers safe?
- Mycelium adds depth to horror survival and parkour games.
- Install-and-ignore it on your SMP server and see what happens!
Mycelium and You
Players walking on Mycelium release its spores, which will increase the Player's spore infection score. Jumping and landing on Mycelium conjures up even more spores than walking on it.
Standing still on Mycelium stops a player's infection score from increasing. Moving off of Mycelium will allow the Player's infection score to actually decrease and clear over time.
Your infection and You
A player's infection score is capped at 1800. Players will get the following debuffs at the mentioned infection score thresholds. Keep in mind that these effects stack:
- 600+ – Hunger I
- 1200+ – Slowness II
- 1500+ – Poison I (also grants the Toxic Tango advancement!)
An effect clears immediately when a Player's infection score drops below its threshold.
Be mindful that while you are infected, you can spread it to other players (and certain mobs and creatures). Once a Player's infection score reaches 0, they are cured.

Your infection and Others
Infected Players, mobs and creatures infect each other within 5 blocks. This type of infection is more potent than walking on Mycelium. The more infected are near, the faster everyone's infection level rises.
Unlike Players, infected mobs and creatures stay infected once they're infected. However, they have a slight chance for immunity.
Each newly infected mob or creature has a 1/3 chance to become immune.
Zombies and Zombie Villagers infect other zombies, zombie villagers, drowned, husks, pillagers, evokers, witches, vindicators, cats, and wolves.
Drowned, husks, pillagers, evokers, witches, vindicators, cats, and wolves infect any other listed hostile mob or pet.
All these mobs and creatures infect players, and vice versa.
Keep track of the infection
All infected Players, mobs and creatures have a particle effect. The stronger the effect, the higher the infection level.
As soon as any player’s infection score becomes greater than 0, a sidebar appears showing their current infection level in real time.
